Recent Project Funders

New Zealand Film Commission

Ngā Taonga Sound & Vision received a one-off grant from the New Zealand Film Commission to support the archive’s digitisation programme.

The grant assisted with the purchase of an ARRISCAN film scanner that we use to create high quality digital preservation copies of selected New Zealand feature and short films.

Wellington City Council

Ngā Taonga Sound & Vision received grant funding from the Wellington City Council Creative Communities Scheme towards the 2015 Mini-Sized Square Eyes programmes and the Siapo Cinema festivals 2015 and 2016.

The archive also received funding from the new Communities on Bikes fund to host the 2016 New Zealand Bicycle Film Festival.

New Zealand National Commission for UNESCO

Since 2013, Ngā Taonga Sound & Vision has been working with the National Archives of the Cook Islands (NACI) on a project to transfer its audiovisual collection from the Cook Islands to safe physical and digital storage in New Zealand. Thanks to the New Zealand National Commission for UNESCO, we are able to complete the next stage of this project in 2016-17.

The Thomas George Macarthy Trust

Thomas George Macarthy was a Wellington Brewer who died in August 1912. In his will he provided for a trust that would support strong, inclusive and supportive communities in Wellington. Ngā Taonga Sound & Vision received funding for a video kit, which means that we can record the events and activity that take place in our Wellington hub for distribution to our wider communities throughout New Zealand.

Waitangi National Trust

Ngā Taonga Sound & Vision received a one-off grant from Waitangi National Trust to support the archive’s participation in the Waitangi 175 Commemorations.
